Goodbye Friend

I thought I would just write a little something and dedicate it to my longest and dearest friend. She is moving soon, and although I am excited for her and the possibilities that lie in her future, I can't help but feel a piece of me will soon be missing. Tonight we were talking about the "good ole days". Living across the street from each other growing up has been a pleasure. We talked about the hot summer nights of laying under the stars on my driveway, talking till the wee morning hours, remembering how we would trap beetles in jars, run through sprinklers, playing dress up in her grandma's old dresses and having picnics with our stuffed animals. We used to play barbies together as small children, and she would always get mad at me that I had to be Jasmine. We went on many trips together growing up. I can even remember the time I accidentally threw away her retainer. Boy was she mad. Since she was older she taught me how to shave my legs, how not to be the target of bullies in Jr. High and even what becoming a women was all about. We would go for drives, talk about boys, rescue each other from bad boyfriends and crazy situations. She was even in my wedding. Most importantly she was there for me through my divorce. I will never forget the day she came to me with a sack full of chocolate and told me to let it all out. I will be forever grateful for that day, and the support that she has always given me.
Although you are moving, and I will no longer get to see you as often as I would like, no one can take the memories we shared together and the times that we have had. I know we will have many more days together in the future and for that I am grateful. From diapers to depends, we will always be friends. Love you Jenn.
